Tennessee FOP Lodge 35 sponsored a team again this year for the 2017 Hester-Sykes Memorial Softball Tournament which is played by local law enforcement officers, local fire personnel and local military members in honor of fallen MPD Officers. The tournament took place on October 6th and 7th and the weather was perfect. This years team was coached by V.P. George Cave and Secretary Shayne Tarena and had numerous F.O.P. Lodge 35 members on the team and also out there supporting the team. The Auxiliary was also present and many officers and relatives were asking about the F.O.P. and some were even signed up over the next few weeks! It was a great way to get our message out there and share some information. There were 16 teams in the field and our F.O.P. team did very well, going 5 and 3, and losing in the second round of the playoff. Thanks to all the members of the Lodge and Auxiliary who came out to play, or cook or root us on. We also had the best looking shirts in the tourney and ended up making a second order for people that were interested in them. A good time was had by all! The main goal was to honor the memories of our fallen brothers and sisters and to bring awareness to the F.O.P., and we thank everyone for their support!
