October 5-6, 2018

The MPA hosted the annual Hester-Sykes Police Memorial Softball Tournament at Kennedy Park on Oct 5th and 6th. The tournament is held to honor the fallen MPD Officers and their families every year and was once again a huge success. Lodge #35 again fielded a team made up of young officers and older (Veteran) officers and officers somewhere in between. The team played well under some very warm temperatures and suffered through several injuries but still represented the lodge proudly. F.O.P. members were on hand at the tent site along with a few Auxiliary members to answer any questions about the F.O.P.. As of this time, I have already signed up 2 new members due to the visibility seen at the tournament as our banner proudly hung for all to see. Many officers had questions about the F.O.P. or wanted simply to know how to get back in after having been away for a while. I will continue to follow up with these individuals. Please know all involved had an awesome time and represented the lodge and the F.O.P. well. We hope to see even more involvement next year at the tournament.
